Blessing of the
Animals!

Dogs and cats of all
shapes and sizes
joined Father Donald
Morris of Trinity
Episcopal Church at
RCHS on October 5
for a special
blessing for their
animals. The
celebration was held
in honor of the
Feast Day of St.
Francis of Assisi,
the patron saint of
animals.
Thanks to everyone
who attended.

Hi there!
I'm Lily!

Click
here to see a video
of me!
I'm happy to report
that my friend,
Bumble, who had been
at RCHS for a while
looking for a new
home, was adopted!
I'm so happy for
him. Now it's
time for me to get
some of the
spotlight! I'm
a really friendly
lady who knows all
kinds of tricks.
I can sit, shake,
sit pretty, lie down
and catch! And
my tail just wags
and wags! I'm
looking for a home
where I can be with
people and not be
left alone very
often. Oh, and
I don't like cats!
If you'd like to
learn more about me,
please call the
shelter at 483.6700
or

Kittens!

Cute, cuddly and
fun! We
currently have many,
many kittens
available for
adoption. All
of our kittens have
been
spayed/neutered,
checked by the vet
and
are up to date on
their shots! Please contact the
shelter at 483.6700
for more details!

Redeemable Bottles
and Cans Update!

Thanks to many
people who have been
donating their
redeemable bottles
and cans to help the
animals! We
are fortunate that
Green Mountain
Bottle Redemption in
Rutland has agreed
to pick up our
redeemables for us,
which is a huge time
saver! If you
would like to bring
your redeemables
directly to Green
Mountain Bottle
Redemption in
Rutland, they will
make sure the funds
go to RCHS.
Also, please note,
cans cannot be
crushed. Also,
we cannot accept
plastic milk jugs,
water bottles and
other non-redeemable
items. Please
make sure redeemable
bottles are not
broken and all redeemables should
be free of liquid.
Thanks for helping
the animals and
for making the
process as smooth as
possible!

The animals need
supplies!
The animals at the
shelter are in need
of a variety of
supplies at this
time. They would love canned
cat and dog food,
small cat food and
water bowls, chewy dog
treats, paper towels,
large rawhide bones
and pig ears! Thanks
for your continued
support!

It’s “Spay the Mom” Season
at RCHS!
There’s nothing cuter than kittens or puppies. . . . until
it’s time to find homes for them. Let the Rutland County Humane
Society help! Our program is simple and free: If you’re a
Rutland County resident, you can bring your mom cat or dog and her
kittens or puppies to us at no charge. In exchange, the Humane Society
will “Spay the Mom” and return her to you at no cost. The
kittens and puppies will be adopted into loving new homes after being spayed
and neutered. Please help spread the word if you know of a
female cat or dog with kittens or puppies! For more information, please call the
shelter at 802.483.6700.

RCHS Partners with VT-CAN to get Rutland County Cats Spayed
& Neutered!
Vermont
Companion Animal Neutering (VT-CAN),
a low cost spay/neuter clinic located in Middlesex,
VT, is a long drive from Rutland County. To help out,
RCHS and VT-CAN are working together to make it easier for
you. By dropping your cat at RCHS, volunteers will
transport your cat to VT-CAN where he or she will be spayed
or neutered and given a rabies shot and returned to RCHS
later that day. Choose from Wed, Nov. 5, Tues. Dec. 9
or Wed. Jan. 7. To learn more

Thanks Carris Reels!

Carris Reels' Charitable Giving Committee recently donated $9500 to
RCHS! Accepting the check are RCHS Board Members Mei Mei Brown and
Amanda Gearwar. Thanks Carris Reels for your continued support!

New Donation Guidelines at RCHS
RCHS is appreciative to the community for its continued support of
donations for our animals. While we often receive donations we can
use, we also receive donations which we are unable to use. As a
result, we have to pay to dispose of the items we cannot use. And
these costs are rising, as are many of the costs associated with
running the shelter. As a result we have made a few changes to our
donation guidelines. RCHS volunteers will be accepting donations on
Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 AM - 2 PM at the shelter to ensure
the donations are items we can use. Donations we can no longer
accept include: open bags of food, open boxes of treats, heavily
used toys/food dishes, used litter boxes, pillow cases, electric
blankets, pillows, fitted sheets, sleeping bags, small linens,
heavily used cat furniture, small animal cages and wire dog crates.
We use a lot of newspapers but please call first as we have a
constant need but no room to store large amounts. Thank you for your
continued support and if you have any questions please call the
shelter at 483.6700.

a pressing need for volunteers to help transport animals to and from
their veterinarian appointments to get spayed and neutered. If

Consider Adopting a Senior Pet!

Click
here to
see video of Lily!
Hi!
We're senior animals and we're the best! And right now, RCHS has
a lot of us and we're all looking for new homes! Owning an older pet
can be much easier than those younger ones! We are already
housetrained, our personalities are established and you know what
you're getting! If you decide to adopt one of us and you're 55 years
old or older, there's no adoption fee! It's the RCHS
Senior-to-Senior program and to learn more,
questions or want to learn more about us, please call the shelter at
483.6700.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To help the animals in our care minimize stress-related digestive
problems, we have partnered with Hill's Science Diet to feed our
dogs and cats only Science Diet dry food. This will ensure a
high-quality, consistent diet while they are at RCHS and we
recommend it to our adopters. The program provides the food for free
which is another benefit!
