Spay Neuter Assistance
Spaying and neutering is one of the most effective ways to keep animals healthy and out of shelters.
Tails of Hope, Rutland County’s Humane Society, offers monthly male cat clinics. We’ll post clinic dates on our social media as they’re scheduled. Because spots fill up fast due to high demand, we also want our community to have access to spay/neuter resources year-round. Below are a few low-cost spay/neuter options for cats and dogs in Vermont.
VSNIP
VSNIP reduces pet overpopulation by helping eligible Vermonters afford to have their dogs and cats spayed or neutered. The program is 100% funded by a surcharge on dog registrations so funds are limited. If your application is approved, you’ll get vouchers that let you have your dogs and cats spayed or neutered for a $27 copay per animal.
VT-CAN
VTCAN offers resources for low cost spay/neuter for cats and dogs.
PetFIX – Homeward Bound
PetFIX is the affordable option for taking care of this important surgery. PetFIX is open to dogs and cats belonging to Vermont residents. No other species can be altered at this time.
The Mitzvah Fund
The Mitzvah Fund helps make quality veterinary care possible for the companion animals of low-income seniors, low-income Vermont veterans, our unhoused neighbors, and low-income disabled first responders. For each household, we’re able to cover a surgical or dental procedure for one animal, along with an exam, vaccinations, and any necessary diagnostics or radiographs.
