Everyone knows cats are experts at napping, but did you know they’re also hard workers? Cats are natural rodent deterrents who take their jobs seriously. If you have a farm, stable, warehouse, factory, greenhouse, nursery, winery, distillery, junkyard, storage facility, repair shop, retail store, or similar location with a rodent problem, our Working Cat program might be the perfect solution. These cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, and ready to get to work in exchange for shelter, food, water, and a kind-hearted team to call their own.

What is a Working Cat?
A Working Cat is a cat who isn’t a good fit for a traditional home environment, often due to limited socialization, but who thrives in an outdoor or semi-outdoor working space where they can use their natural hunting instincts.
What kind of locations are a good fit?
Farms, stables, warehouses, factories, greenhouses, nurseries, wineries, distilleries, junkyards, storage facilities, repair shops, retail stores, and similar spaces with rodent issues are all great fits.
Have these cats had any medical care?
Yes. All Working Cats are spayed or neutered and have at least their rabies and distemper vaccinations before placement.
Is there a fee to surrender my pet?
There is no required intake or surrender fee. However, we do ask that you consider a minimum donation of $50 to help offset the cost of care. Each year, more than 1,100 animals come through our doors, and the average cost to care for and prepare each animal for adoption is $300–$700. Every dollar makes a difference.
What do I need to provide as an adopter?
Working Cats need shelter from the elements, access to food and water, and basic ongoing care. In return, they’ll help keep your space free of rodents.
Is there an adoption fee?
There is no adoption fee for Working Cats, though donations to support the program are always appreciated.
Will these cats be friendly and cuddly?
Not necessarily. Many Working Cats are not socialized for handling, but they thrive when given a job, a safe space, and a routine.
