For the Love of Dogs Variety Show

Lesli Hyland and her team of talented dog lovers will be performing with their four legged friends in front of a live audience on Saturday, November 12, 2016.  Performances will start at 1 pm on stage at the Rutland Intermediate School Auditorium.  Be amazed by dancing, music, tricks and more!  Tickets are $10 for adults and FREE for children!  ALL proceeds will benefit the homeless animals at the Rutland County Humane Society.  For more information, please contact Jen Giancola at the Rutland County Humane Society at 483.9171 extension 203, or e-mail Jen.

RCHS Yard Sale

The Rutland County Humane Society (RCHS) will have a yard sale on Saturday, October 15 from 7 AM – 2 PM at Stoney Brook Plaza, 158 North Main Street in Rutland, VT.  There will be many new and slightly used items for sale, ranging from items for your pet to beautiful things for your home.  Check out our half price sale at 1 PM.  Join us for a fun day of treasure hunting to support the care of homeless animals in our community.  No donations are being accepted at this time!  Please contact Jen at 483.9171 or e-mail Jen with any questions.

Blessing of the Animals

In honor of the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, the Rutland County Humane Society (RCHS) and Reverend Liam Muller of Trinity Episcopal Church will host Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, October 9 at 2 pm.  It will be held at the Rutland County Humane Society at 765 Stevens Road in Pittsford, VT.  All pets, or a picture of your pets, are welcome for a special blessing Reverend Muller.  All dogs must be on leashes and cats and other pets in safe carriers.  The ceremony will be held outside and all pets are encouraged to attend!  For more information about RCHS and/or the Blessing of the Animals, please e-mail Jen or call RCHS at 483.9171.  Click here for more information.

16th Annual Fall Foliage Golf Tournament

 

It’s a beautiful time of year in a beautiful setting and great fun for golfers.  The Fall Foliage Golf Tournament will be held at Proctor Pittsford Country Club on October 7.  The shotgun start is at 1 pm with registration beginning at 11:45 for Captain and Crew play.  After the perfect afternoon of golf, a delicious banquet follows in Garafano’s Grille.  There are raffles and prizes for longest drive, straightest drive, closest to the hole, and net and gross scores.  All proceeds benefit the work of RCHS.  For more information or to register please contact RCHS at 802.483.9171 or e-mail Gretchen. Dock Diving Competition

The Rutland County Humane Society’s 9th Annual Dog Dock Diving competition will take place on Sunday, September 11, from 12-3 pm at Palms on Lake Bomoseen (off of Route 30).  There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place longest jumps as well as biggest splash and most comical.  There is a $10 entry fee for dogs, and spectators.  Stop by to watch or compete, and enjoy an afternoon of fun on beautiful Lake Bomoseen.  For more information call the Rutland County Humane Society at 802-483-9171, or e-mail Jen.  Click here for more information.

Dog Days of Summer Pool Party

Let your favorite pooch enjoy the end of summer with a dip in the pool!  Join us on Sunday, August 28 from 10 AM – 12 Noon at the Northwood Pool on Post Road in Rutland Town.  There will be a free swim for dogs throughout the event (dogs only!), along with games and fun activities for you and your dog.  All proceeds go towards the care of homeless animals in our community.  Dogs must be leashed, except when in the pool, and Vermont law requires that all dogs are up to date on their rabies shots.  Puppies under 4 months old and dogs in heat will not be allowed to participate.  Aggressive dogs will be asked to leave.  $5.00 donation per dog, donation for people.  Questions:  email Jen or call 802-483-9171.  Thank you to Northwood Pool, and Rutland Town for donating the use of the pool!  Click here to learn more.

Duck Derby 2016

On Sunday, September 18 at 2 pm hundreds of plastic ducks will race to the finish line in a stream at Giorgetti Park. These colorful ducks will win cash prizes for their adopters.  Money raised will support the programs and homeless animals at RCHS.  You can participate by “adopting” ducks.   A single duck is $3, a Quack Pack (4 ducks) is $10 and a 6 Quack (6 ducks) is $15. If you wish, call RCHS to adopt a duck over the phone at 483.9171 or stop by the shelter or click here.  For more information email Jen or call 483.9171.

We will be accepting items at our new sale location May 16 -19 from 5 pm -7 pm, and May 20th from 8 am to 6 pm. Items must be pre priced! RCHS is Hosting a “Kitten Shower”!

 

Please help the Rutland County Humane Society (RCHS) take care of our new arrivals this Spring and Summer.  Last year we took in over 400 kittens and it looks like we’ll see that many this year as well.  Stop by Saturday, May 14 from 12 – 4 at the RCHS Adoption Center, 765 Stevens Road in Pittsford and help us with the supplies needed to care for our young felines.  Your gifts will help us provide around-the-clock care that will be needed not only in our shelter, but while the kittens are in foster care.  Your generosity will allow these little ones to grow strong and healthy so they can be placed in forever homes.  Items our kittens need include:  KMR kitten formula, chicken or turkey baby food (Gerber brand), cat beds and toys, pate canned kitten food, small soft stuffed animals, small animal heating pads, fleece blankets, small vegetable scales and monetary donations and/or gift cards.  We hope you will join us and help provide the supplies we’ll need for our new bundles of joy!  If you have any questions please contact RCHS at 483.6700.
