Even though it’s Fall, it’s still kitten season at the Rutland County Humane Society (RCHS) and we have lots of playful balls of fur looking for homes. We want to help our kittens get adopted before they grow up into cats at the shelter so we’re hosting a “Kitten Clearance”! Join us on Sunday, November 7 from 12 pm – 5 pm at the RCHS Shelter on Stevens Road in Pittsford and at the Rutland Veterinary Clinic and Surgical Center on East Pittsford Road in Rutland to adopt a kitten or two! Adoption fee discounts will be available and your luck of the draw will determine how much you’ll save! Fill your home and your hearts with the antics and love only a kitten can provide. All of our kittens have been spayed/neutered, checked by the vet, feline leukemia tested and have had their shots. To learn more please visit www.rchsvt.org or contact the shelter at 483.6700. The kittens are excited about seeing you on November 7 and are all packed and ready to go home!
Our annual coin drop will take place on Saturday, October 9 from 10 AM – 2 PM on Merchants Row in front of the Knights of Columbus in Rutland. One of our large fundraisers, our annual golf tournament, was rained out last week so we are hoping our coin drop helps fill the gap from that. If you are in Rutland on Saturday and want to say hi and make a donation for the homeless animals we would really appreciate it. See you on Merchants Row!
In honor of the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, please join RCHS and Reverend Lee Crawford of Trinity Episcopal Church for Blessing of the Animals. Bring your pet or a picture of your pet for a special blessing by Reverend Crawford. All dogs must be on leashes and cats and other pets in safe carriers. The ceremony will be held outside and all are welcome! After the ceremony the shelter will be open until 5 pm to visit with the adoptable animals.
Join us on Sunday, September 26 for the 2nd annual dock diving competition at the Lake House Pub & Grille to benefit RCHS. Registration begins at 11 and jumping begins at noon. Tickets are $5 for viewing or entry and are available at the Lake House Pub & Grille. Contact 273.3000 with any questions.
Mark your calendar for Tuesday, September 21 to dine at Cattails from 11 AM – 9 PM and raise money for Brandon FCAP. Cattails will donate a portion of the day’s sales to this great cause. Bring a bag of non-clumping litter or cat food and get a free chance for a handmade cat quilt! Contact Mei Mei at 247.3971 or Cattails 247.9300 for more information.
Join us on Friday, October 1 for a great day of golf and to help raise money for the homeless animals in our care. Click here for a brochure or click here to learn more about becoming a sponsor. If you have any questions please e-mail Gretchen@rchsvt.org or call her at 483.9171.
