Purdy was a southern gal at heart, whose story took her up north. She traveled longside her brother and four other dogs, all in search of a family, and a place to finally call home.

The road north wasn’t short. Purdy and her companions traveled all the way up from the south to a transfer station in New Jersey, one stop on a much bigger trip. From there, she made the final stretch into Vermont.

When Purdy arrived at the shelter, she settled in, waiting with hope in her heart. Two months came and went. Purdy watched other dogs find their people, and through it all, she kept that same southern warmth about her, greeting everyone who came by with a wagging tail and a hopeful heart.

Then came the foster who would change everything. She took Purdy in, expecting to give her a temporary soft place to land. But it didn’t take long before “temporary” started to feel a lot like “forever.” So she made the big decision to adopt Purdy!

And just like that, the dog who traveled hundreds of miles in search of a home didn’t have to travel any farther. Purdy had found her person, and her person had found her. The rest, as they say, is history.
