How You Can Help!

Your donations will be put directly toward our goal of creating a humane community. All programs sponsored by RCHS will continue and flourish with your generous support. Hundreds of wonderful pets will find a second chance through our Pet Adoption Center.

The actual expense for each pet placed depends on many variables such as the medical needs of the pet, his/her length of stay before being adopted, special needs, etc. But be assured that the fees charged for adoption never meet the actual costs of caring for each pet during their stay with us.

Your donations will ensure quality care for the animals that need it most. Questions about giving? Contact us by e-mailing Gretchen
or calling (802) 483-9171.

2-Pocket Blue Folders are Now on Sale!

We use 2-pocket blue folders to house all of the adoption information when people adopt animals from us.  Regularly they are approximately 53 cents each.  They are now on sale for 1 cent to 15 cents each!  If you happen to see them and can buy some for us it would be terrific!

New Donation Guidelines at RCHS

RCHS is appreciative to the community for its continued support of donations for our animals.  While we often receive donations we can use, we also receive donations which we are unable to use.  As a result, we have to pay to dispose of the items we cannot use.  And these costs are rising, as are many of the costs associated with running the shelter.  As a result we have made a few changes to our donation guidelines.

Donations we can no longer accept include: open bags of food, open boxes of treats, heavily used toys/food dishes, used litterboxes, pillow cases, electric blankets, pillows, fitted sheets, sleeping bags, small linens, heavily used cat furniture, small animal cages and wire dog crates.  We use a lot of newspapers but please call first as we have a constant need but no room to store large amounts.  Thank you for your continued support and if you have any questions please call the shelter at 483.6700.

Mt. Holly's First Graders Help the Animals at RCHS!

The first grade students at the Mt. Holly School finished their year with an in-depth study of animals.  As part of the program, they collected items and money for the animals at RCHS.  They also made pillows for the dogs and cats.  The program was made possible through the Okemo Challenge Grant.  Thanks first graders!

Donations to RCHS!

Thanks to the Killington Girl Scouts for collecting items for the animals at RCHS!  In the picture below, they are posing with their collected items after presenting them to RCHS.  If you look closely, you'll see RCHS Alumni, Madeline, who was happy to accept the items on behalf of the RCHS animals!  Madeline's Mom, Director of Outreach and Special Events, Beth Saradarian, talked to the scouts about RCHS and being a responsible pet owner.

ScienceDiet.com

To help the animals in our care minimize stress-related digestive problems, we have partnered with Hill's Science Diet to feed our dogs and cats only Science Diet dry food.  This will ensure a high-quality, consistent diet while they are at RCHS and we recommend it to our adopters.  The program provides the food for free which is another benefit!
